Sunshine Filigree

Scroll

A comprehensive renovation that aimed to modernise and open the house to spectacular landscape, whilst filtering the strong sun and protecting it from the elements.

A cage like structure made of steel was designed to cover the majority of the exterior to protect the living area from the harsh West sun. The effect was a soft, filtered light that bounced throughout the home. Natural materials, such as stone gabions, were added to work with the beauty of nature and help the house sit harmoniously within its context on the mountainside. I enjoyed the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking this project demanded and truly love the outcome.

Views of the ocean are transported into the heart of the home. Stone gabions create an earthy environment in the one bathroom.
